Cut Through The Crap: Real Strategies That Work In Winning Businesses
As a business owner or entrepreneur, the question must be asked of you:
Why are you doing things that don’t matter in your business that are costing you precious time and slowing you down from reaching your goals?
When you read it on paper, it makes no sense, does it? But we find that at least 85% of early stage business owners are doing day to day tasks that are not actually fundamental to achieving the empire building goals that they want to achieve.

To share some of the science behind this, it is important to understand that in life, we get what we focus on. There is a part of the mind called the Reticular Activating System (RAS) that can attract the things into our lives that we concentrate on.
Heard of The Secret?
The Secret was a movie (and book) that brought the law of attraction into the mainstream eye and discussed how we attract things into our lives that we focus on, on a daily basis. This is the RAS at work, and that is what brings those things into our minds.
When you are focusing on tasks that are not important in the grand scheme of things in building your business, you are priming the RAS to look for things that simply don’t matter. So what can you do about it? STOP it for a start, and look for a better way of approaching things.
A better way to go about using business strategies that will make you win is to know what you are trying to do in the first place. If you don’t know your outcome, with clarity, then it’s going to be easy for you to find yourself distracted from your true goals.
Once you do know what you’re trying to create, however, you want to apply Pareto’s Law, or the 80/20 principle, to everything that you do. So what is Pareto’s Law or the 80/20 principle?
In 1906, Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto discovered there was an unequal distribution of wealth in Italy, observing that 20% of the people owned 80% of the wealth. To cut to the chase, over a century later, countless pieces of research have been done to prove the theory and here are some of the findings below:
- 80% of a company’s profits come from 20% of its customers
- 80% of a company’s complaints come from 20% of its customers
- 20% of your day to day actions will produce 80% of your results
- 20% of a company’s products will deliver 80% of the revenue
- 80% of a company’s sales are made by 20% of its sales staff
And these are just a few of its application. In fact, there is an 80/20 rule in everything. It may not be 80/20 to the decimal point, but I can guarantee you, it’s pretty close. So if this is true in all of these areas, do you think it could be true for your time allocation? You better believe it. On top of procrastination, self-sabotage and all the other things that might be getting in the way, if you simply look for the high-leverage tasks and actions within your business, you can grow several hundred percent faster than what you are at present.
The value of the Pareto’s Law reminds us to focus on the 20% of things that matters. Of the things you do during your day at the moment, only 20% really matter. Those 20% produce 80% of your results.
